📖 Description

This candle mold is based on the adorable Happy Ghosty – The Ghost model.
I turned the 3D figure into a candle mold, so you can cast your very own little ghost candles for Halloween or as a fun decoration all year round. 👻🕯️

🛠️ Candle Making Instructions

  1. Prepare the wick
    • Place a candle wick in the center of the mold.
    • Use a skewer or toothpick across the top to keep it upright.
  2. Melt the wax
    • Heat the wax slowly and safely in a water bath.
    • Recommended pouring temperatures:
      • Paraffin wax: ~60–70 °C
      • Soy wax: ~55–65 °C
      • Beeswax: ~70–80 °C
  3. Pour the wax
    • Fill gently into the mold to avoid air bubbles.
    • Tap the mold lightly to release trapped air.
  4. Cool and release
    • Let the candle fully harden (a few hours or overnight).
    • Carefully open the mold and remove the candle.
  5. Trim the seam line
    • A small seam may appear where the mold halves meet.
    • Simply smooth it away with a scalpel or sharp knife.

⚠️ Notes on the Mold

  • Holding rings:
The mold is secured with tight-fitting rings at the top and bottom.
They press the halves firmly together, ensuring a cleaner and smoother candle surface.
  • Surface texture (FDM printing):
FDM printing leaves layer lines that can make wax stick to the mold, especially around curved areas.
    • To improve release: sand or coat the inside.
    • Alternatively, use mold release agents (like mold spray or even baking spray).
    • It works without treatment too, but small wax residues may remain inside.
  • Material recommendation:
    • PETG is preferred due to its higher heat resistance.
    • PLA also works – I personally had no problems with it.
  • Print settings (recommended):
    • 3 wall lines for stability
    • Lightning infill to save material
    • Solid outer walls to avoid leakage

🖤 Extra Note on the Design

The black eyes and mouth shown in the pictures are inserts from the original Happy Ghosty model.
They are only there to make the details more visible, since white wax is very difficult to photograph.
Alternatively, you can also fill the eye and mouth cavities with black wax after removing the candle from the mold, and then carefully scrape away the excess with a knife until you get a clean, sharp face. 👻

👉 With this mold you can easily create your own Happy Ghosty candle – cute, spooky, and perfect for Halloween vibes! 🎃👻

If you like this design, check out my other spooky candle molds as well.

Perfect to mix and match for your Halloween setup!

Looking for something completely different?

Besides my spooky and seasonal candle molds, I also made a few slightly more questionable creations inspired by water and wastewater themes.

You can now also find:

  • elegant water drop candle molds
  • and a completely unnecessary, but surprisingly funny poop candle mold

Because apparently my design process has no supervision anymore.
