Description
Makerworld isn't letting me upload the Fusion360 file for some reason so here it is.
The 3mf file contains the following STL's:
This took entirely way more effort than it was worth. You watch youtube and see someone gridfinitize their tool box and think, “oh thats so cool! I should do that, it looks great!”. Yeah well don't; this was a total pain in the butt, took forever, and to be honest other than the “drip” factor its not even more convenient than socket rails. Gridfinity is great, but not for sockets.
If you ever take your tools to another location then these dumb little boxes WILL spill all over your toolbox and you'll be sitting there picking them all up individually explaining to your boy how its actually super convenient and awesome (it isn't). I do like that i can grab a fastener and start putting it into sockets like a monkey until one of them fits perfectly; but other than that its kinda mid and was also expensive to print. They're nice if you never ever take multiple sockets out of your toolbox but other than that.. meh.
I have no idea if your socket set will fit this. No, i will not post the circumference or diameter of the socket inserts. I have had quite enough of this and would like to drop this project like a bag of dirt thank you very much. If you really wanna know then either download fusion360 (its free) and load the file, or load the 3mf and use the measuring tool. Or just print it. Or don't. Don't care. I care so little about these designs at this point i'm not even bothering to stamp my username on em like i normally would.
Its not even that good of a design; Some of them stack nicely, others don't. Whoops. Also the text isn't thick enough so i've had a few of the numbers just break off of it. Whatever. It does look good though i guess. No, i'm not fixing it.
I still like gridfinity but I won't be doing it for sockets again. To be quite honest i don't like it for my ratchets either. I think its great for turning a regular drawer into something logical and organized via bins, but for tool organization specifically it just takes too much time, costs a lot of money, and you end up with less drawer space than you otherwise would have. Its effectively solving a problem that doesn't exist.
But knock yourself out and do it anyways, i'm not your mother.
be sure to check out the other crappy designs i've made. leave a comment if you want me to change/adjust something (i won't lol)
money me plz so i can replace the dozens of kg's wasted on my failed attempts at this nonesense (i've definitely earned it)
