Description
This sleek, functional yarn bowl is wrapped in a dramatic dragon-scale texture — elegant, practical, and designed to print with minimal, easy-to-remove supports. The yarn path is completely clear of supports, so your yarn stays perfectly smooth and snag-free.
I’ve done a lot of crochet myself, and I’ve been cursed with some amazing-looking bowls that nevertheless have features that catch and snag on yarn. This design keeps the scale detail close and flush to the bowl, without sharp ridges or deep crevices that can interfere with your yarn.
Prints in about 200 g of filament, with a color change at layer 28 so you can swap filament mid-print for a different base or scale color — no AMS required.
The interior measures about 6⅓" (160 mm) across at the lip (a bit wider at its widest point) and stands roughly 4" (100 mm) tall — about ¾" wider and 1½" taller than the classic Joann wooden bowl. It easily handles larger skeins and balls of yarn, and there’s still room on the build plate if you’d like to scale it up further.
