Fruit Fly Trap – Apple Edition V2 (Improved Version)

This is the upgraded and refined version of my original apple-shaped fruit fly trap. Built on the same fun and functional concept, this V2 brings several significant improvements to print quality, ease of use, and overall performance. It is now faster to print, easier to assemble, and completely support-free.

✅ What’s new in V2

• Two-part snap-fit lid redesigned for a fully support-free print.
• Improved thread geometry for easier assembly and no more stuck or misaligned lids.
• Added an internal “MAX” fill line to reduce leakage risk and guide proper use.
• Reworked bottom geometry and updated print profile for better sealing and improved reliability.
• Printing is now about 30 minutes faster compared to the original version (depending on printer and settings).

🍎 How it works

As with the original design, the apple shape naturally attracts fruit flies.
Print the body and the two-part lid in PLA, snap the lid together, fill the trap with your chosen liquid, close it, and place it near fruits or in your kitchen.
The new geometry makes printing easier, cleaner, and more leak-resistant.

🧪 Filling & Liquid Recommendations

• The MAX line indicates the upper limit not to exceed to avoid overflow and leakage.
• You do not need to reach the line; even a small amount of liquid at the bottom is often enough to attract flies.
• Recommended liquids:
  • wine
  • beer
  • diluted vinegar (1 part vinegar + 1 part water)
• Adding one drop of dish soap can increase effectiveness, but it is optional.
