Before to clip on the mat try bottom part of the clip in your car, ensure if it “clics” and if you can put/remove it from clip holder with low force. After you connect bottom and top parts of the clip you will be unable to release. Unreleasable connection, to remove from floor mat needs to be broken.

To connect top part and bottom part an effort should be made, I used a piece of wooden board on top to put enough force and to not brake a clip itself
