iPhone 17 Pro/Max Series Tactile PLA Case

Hello everyone!

I wanted to design a case that could be printed using just PLA, but It needed to feel great in the hand and looked like a premium, finished product.

I'm pleased to share my new Tactile iPhone 17 Pro Series Case.

Introduction: A Case Designed for Print

My goal was to create a case that takes full advantage of 3D printing. It’s a two-part design, consisting of a strong main frame and a separate back panel. This allows for multi-colour or multi-material combinations, like the PLA-CF shown in the photos.

The main feature is the fine-corded, textured back panel and frame to provide a fantastic, secure grip and a "tactile" feel that you just don't get with standard, mass-produced cases.

• Precise Fit: Engineered for a snug, snap-fit assembly.

   

Printing Tips

This is a quick and efficient print.

• Print Time: Approximately 1 hour 54 minutes.
• Filament Usage: A lightweight 35 grams.
• Layer Height: A 0.12mm layer height for a precise, clean fit.

Assembly

The case is designed for a tight, snap-together fit. Here is the best way to assemble it:

1. Start at the Bottom: Take the back panel and line up the small locking tabs at the bottom of the case. Slot them into the frame, they should "disappear" and sit perfectly flush when positioned correctly.
2. Bend to Fit: Apply a slight, gentle bend to the back panel to pop the top tabs into place.
3. Insert Your Phone: The easiest way to lock everything together is to insert your phone at this point. The pressure from the phone will help snap the panel securely into the frame.
4. Final Check (Pro-Tip): The last edge just under the camera bump can be a snug fit. If it's not sitting perfectly flush, simply use your thumb to "work" the edge in from the sides until it snaps cleanly into place.

Conclusion

I’m really happy with how this turned out, it's a sleek, modern, and highly practical case for every day use.
