Description
I created a 25-point star last year and learned a lot from that model, so I decided to try to upgrade it for this year! Â This one has 60 points; 12 sets, each with 5 points. Â As you can see in the pictures, it can be printed scaled down to 50% (A1 mini), at 100% P and X series) and up to 128% to fit the H2D! Â This star is hollow to allow for lights to pushed up further into the star. Â And there are 4 different versions to choose from! Â I personally like the star on plate 3 the best. Â Each one has custom-drawn supports. Â I printed them in translucent PETG and translucent PLA. Â I found the PETG to be the easiest and best looking but it was easier to remove the supports in translucent PLA. Â And if you have time, and really want it to be translucent, slow the printer down (either in the setting or just switch it to silent mode). Â I find the slower you print translucent filament, the clear it is. Â (You can also increase the layer thickness, as that helps too.) Â The ends of the points are very small, but the PETG was up to the challenge. Â I haven't tried but from experience I don't recommend PLA silk, as it can be very brittle. Â Try it but be very careful. Â These are long prints that require some time to slice and download along with requiring patience when removing the supports. Â I used a pliers to grip the supports as close as possible to the star (at their thinnest) and twisted to release them from the star. Â It takes some effort, but i think you will be happy with either one!
Â
Notes: In the picture, the top of the star is white PETG (if you see the color change). Â I ran out of translucent PETG after printing it so many times. Â They can all be made larger (to fit the H2 beds) but I wouldn't go a lot smaller on plates 2 and 4 as the model will disappear if you get too small. Â You would then have to switch to a .2mm nozzle. Â
