I was unhappy with the stock phone holder - it is in a akward place, obstructing view and not really suitable for a foldable phone. I saw some interesting ideas but none were free or available for download. So this is a result of my attempt for a phone holder that I use now regularly in my Dacia Jogger (but should probably be compatible with Sandero and Stepway as well).

 

The phone holder consist of 3 parts:

  1. Base with (flexible) hooks that holds on the air vent axes. There's a standard 17 mm ball in the front.
  2. Insert (TPU) that slips under the base to fix it in place.
  3. Actual phone holder that attaches to the 17 mm ball. I just purchased compatible magnetic phone holder ($3 from AliExpress).

Installation

  1. Attach the base to the air vent axes.
  2. Start inserting the narrow part of the the insert from the bottom. Go slowly, just 0.5 mm by 0.5 mm - move the insert 0.5 upward, then the base 0.5 mm downward.

Now for the features

  • Standard 17 mm ball joint allows you to pick any holder of your choice (either 3D printed or purchased) in desired orientation. Fuzzy skin on the ball wall helps staying in the right position.
  • Both air vents are still fully functional.
  • The TPU part theoretically helps to damp vibrations.

Notes

Use materials suitable for car use (temperatures). I used PCTG (for the base) for flexibility of the hooks as well as at least some heat resistance. Larger diameter nozzle (0.6 or 0.8 mm) is also recommended for this part. Leave the base printed on a side! Otherwise it will just snap.
The insert should be printed with flexible filament -> TPU. Standard 95A is enough as 10% gyroid infill takes care of the squishiness. Just don't let this part freeze before installation.
