Boost Me
Based on AeonJoey's excellent remix, this super optimized version of the AMS desiccant pods adds the following improvements:
- Ventilation holes on all 6 sides, not just front and back, which increases efficiency and makes these pods ideal to go straight into the oven or filament dryer. Never empty or refill the pods again, just dry the desiccant inside the pods.
- Print in PC/ASA/ABS if you plan to dry your desiccant/silica in these pods in a filament dryer.
- Print in nylon (e.g. PA6-GF or CF) if you plan to dry them in the (convection) oven, which is 10x faster than a filament dryer due to the increased ventilation. I recommend PA6-GF because it's very heat resistant but still AMS compatible and not too expensive. Remember to dry your nylon filament for a long time and use a glue stick if you print in nylon.
- The side holes in this model are designed for easy printing and are not a torture test of your printer, but the new modified side pods can be difficult to get perfect, especially if you have not properly dried the nylon filament.
- The side pods have been heavily modified to fit the complex corner shape of the inside of the AMS 2 and to add a second row of side pods for maximum capacity. This makes this super optimized set the most voluminous pods available.
- All pods have been modified to fit the AMS 2, which has a different internal geometry (my super optimized AMS 1 pods will not fit the AMS 2, but these pods will fit the AMS 1)
- The infill percentage of the bottom layers is also lowered to 40 % to increase efficiency and faster printing while stille keeping the silica inside. PLEASE NOTE that the front and back grid is created as infill. It is a setting in the slicer which I include in my print profiles, not part of the STL model. This makes printing faster and nicer looking.
- While double stackable, the new front row pods are made deeper and will fit more desiccant while still being removable (without having to move the filament spools in the AMS).
- Since the AMS 2 has a built-in hygrometer, these pods use all the space for dessicant.
