Ntron Type 2 Arcade + Chiptune Synth

Thanks for checking out my Ntron Type 2 build!

This one is something special — the darker, weirder, lilac-toned sibling to the original Ntron. Think of it as the Majora’s Mask of the series: a retro-vintage all-in-one system that blends 8-bit gaming with a fully integrated chiptune synth setup, powered by the PO-20 Arcade and the Korg Monotron Delay.
 

Two modes — Game Mode and Synth Mode — let you switch effortlessly between pixel nostalgia and raw 8-bit sound design.

The Type 2 is packed with thoughtful details and plenty of room for personal customization. You can keep the build simple and get it running fast, or go all-in with sanding, painting, decals and custom LED matrix messages to give it its own personality.

I recommend downloading the Ntron_Type2_All ZIP, which includes everything in one place:

You’ll find it under “Download STL”, and the documentation is also available further down this page. The 3MF file is fully prepped for the X1C and P1S, with each print plate using optimized materials, supports, brims, and orientations. Some parts include multiple design versions — be sure to read the Design Choices section in the documentation to pick the one that fits your build. The print beds are clearly named for easy reference, and the alternate part versions are placed off to the right if you want to drag them into the plate.

Filament

For this project I used matte PLA, but most materials should work just fine.
Before starting your build, please read through the entire documentation to understand the flow and options.

Software & Firmware

The image file containing Retropie, the Audio Visualizer, and all required scripts for the buttons and NES ports is available for download HERE. The INO file for the ESP32 board and LED Matrix is downloadable HERE.
