Project Evergreen: The Modular & Magnetic Christmas Tree (Over 40cm!)

My tree, standing over 40 cm tall, is not just a beautiful centerpiece—it's my new favorite interactive holiday project!
🎄 Modular and Space-Saving Features
- 100% Modular and Glue-Free (Structure): The tree consists of 5 conical sections (Base + 4 segments) assembled with square pin connectors, ensuring perfect stability and texture alignment. The modularity allows it to be easily printed on any standard build plate and, most importantly, to be disassembled and stored in a small box after the holidays.
- Designed for Small Spaces: With a maximum base footprint of only 20 cm, Project Evergreen is specifically designed for desks, shelves, offices, or compact apartments.
✨ Unlimited Interactivity and Customization
- The Magic of Magnets: The surface of every module is dotted with +40 magnet slots in total (8 mm×2 mm). This guarantees that no two trees are ever the same. You can decorate, rearrange, and completely change the look every year.
- MAGNET NOTICE: The use of glue (super glue or UV resin) is recommended for securing the magnets within the tree and mandatory for ensuring magnets stay in place in the 2D decorations.
- Decorate Your Way: Leverage the magnetic interactivity to:
- Use my printable Magnetic Decoration Kits/Bundles (like classic 2D Christmas items: candy cane, reindeer, Santa Claus, ornament ball, etc.).
- Attach your own mini figures (Miniatures, characters) with a small magnet glued to the back.
- Integrate the Light: Use the Bambu Lab LED Flame Tea Light Candles in the dedicated internal slots for a soft, atmospheric light that radiates from the entire structure.
- Classic and Versatile Tree Topper: The pinnacle is designed to host a classic star tree topper or any alternative topper you choose to 3D print and mount.
💡 The Creative Process and Design Choices
Project Evergreen is a project born from the community for the community. Every design choice I made was optimized for FDM printing:
- Print Optimization: I used a hollow shell design with a 2.0 mm wall thickness and a low infill (5%) for the modules, drastically reducing print time and material consumption while maintaining sturdiness thanks to the solid joining pins.
- Built for Makers: The tree is mainly intended for those who love 3D printing, have little space, and want a decorated and ready tree in very little time.
- The Magnetic Fix: I solved the critical problem of placing flat magnets on a conical surface by flattening the base of each magnet slot, ensuring maximum contact and holding power for flat magnetic decorations.
🚀 Future Roadmap
This is Version 1.0, but the Project Evergreen ecosystem is growing! As this is the first version, coming soon:
- New themed magnetic decoration bundles.
- Alternative modules with cutouts (caves) for creating small internal Christmas dioramas and personalization with objects or mini-figures.
- Alternative tree toppers to vary the style of the tree's pinnacle (beyond the classic star topper).
