Turkey trumpet call

Please make sure you know what a turkey trumpet call is before printing this!

It does NOT produce sound by itself, it is a funnel that helps you create the sound with your mouth and amplify it. This requires skill and training and are not something you will master directly. It can be used to help you create most types of turkey sounds that are used for hunting.

This type of call exists in many many variants and have been used for a long time by many hunters. Often they are created by wing bones or by turning wood into nice looking pieces of art. My design is not necessary intended to replace those, instead it is created to provide a cheap and easy way to introduce people to those type of calls. To have something to train on before putting down quite a lot of money on the often expensive ones. (But it seems to produce decent sound)

I also published this as open source, fusion 360 files is available if you want to experiment with different sizes and forms.

Update 2026-04-09

• Finally added my main experiment when started with this call. A trumpet shaped Turkey Trumpet! It has exactly the same internal measurements and the same length as the classical ones but the result will most likely vary with different printers and plastics since it contains internally overhangs. This one was designed to look good, not to print or work optimal! You find it in the “Did someone say trumpet” print profile.

Printing

I have printed using PLA and normal 0.2 settings with good results. Brim might be good to use for some of the parts if you don't use a really good bed adhesive. You will most likely get different acoustic results with different plastics and fill rates so feel free to experiment.

For the trumpet shaped Turkey trumpet you should go for 3 walls and tree support on build plate only. I have also removed the internal supports thats being created on the plate with negative support drawing in the slicer.

Assembly

Very straight forward, screw the parts together.

For trumpet shaped call, no assembly needed. Just remove the support
