The Mimic Santa Cap can alter its form to resemble a harmless, fuzzy red-and-white holiday cap. While motionless, it is indistinguishable from a mundane object.
If a creature picks up or attempts to wear the cap, the mimic automatically makes a Bite attack as a reaction. On a hit, it attaches itself to the creature’s head. A creature wearing the mimic is grappled (escape DC 13) and has disadvantage on Perception checks and spellcasting requiring verbal components (its tongue is in the way).
While attached to a creature’s head, the mimic moves with the creature and cannot be knocked off by attacks. The attached mimic takes only half damage from melee attacks that hit it (the rest hits the wearer).
The cap secretes sticky, faintly mint-scented goo. A creature grappling the mimic or grappled by it has disadvantage on Strength (Athletics) checks to break free.
Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 6 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, and the target is grappled if they aren’t already.
Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one grappled or adjacent target.
Hit: 5 (1d4 + 2) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution save or begin coughing and choking from invasive festive fluff, becoming poisoned until the start of its next turn.
The mimic rapidly jingles its bells in a disorienting rhythm. Creatures within 10 feet must make a DC 12 Wisdom save or become charmed for 1 minute, believing the cap is adorable and harmless. This effect ends early if the mimic attacks the creature
