Description

This is a solid fish tank divider sized to fit a Aqueon 20 gallon long aquarium. However this one can actually fit on your print bed!!

The trick was to simply cut the model into 4 pieces so it can fit on even the smallest A1 Mini's build plate. With a few added snap tabs the whole thing comes together like a piece of cake!

Tutorial section with tips and tricks for the best results.

Step 1 print the model.

Step 2:

Assess the clips. Due to having to print some of the clips on the sides of the print as well as the top. Use a cutting tool to clean up any drooping filament that might get in the way of them entering their corosponding holes.

Photo 1 shows how clean the clip printed on top is.

Photo 2 showing how the overhanging clips turned out on my personal A1 printer.  Not perfect as expected, but good enough given the tolerances I gave it.

Step 3 :

Assemble the model with the clips and the holes lines up with eachother.

Step 4:

Simply press the clips into the holes. If any of the clips break during this. I wouldn't sweat it because while the next step is optional it would fix this issue if you run into it.

Step 5: Optional but recomended

So now that you have your assembled divider. Lets give it some additional structure. I did not find this to be necesarry as nothing is bumping into it in my fish tanks, but why not make the model as durable and high quality as possible, right? So with that being said the final step is to simply use a soldering iron to melt the joints together as pictured below. This ensures it feels like one solid piece that would withstand inevitably dropping while walking to the aquarium haha!

Step 6:

Installation can be done in a multitude of ways im sure. Feel free to experiment with what you have around, and what works best for you. As for myself what I ended up using was a simple suction cup that is designed to hold airline tubing. I only needed to put it on one side to get it to a pressure fit againts the glass, but you could use more as needed of course depending on your dimensions.

Step 7 profit!! Or at least savings because tank dividers are expensive, and saving money is basically the same thing, right?

Thank you for reading! If you have any questions or suggestions please leave a comment. I plan on updating, improving, and expanding this design to include other tank sizes soon!
