π DIY Parametric Mushroom Air Filter
Build your own high-flow intake filter for a fraction of the cost!
This is a fully Parametric Generator that creates the rigid "cage" structure for a mushroom-style air filter. Instead of buying expensive replacements, you can print this cage and wrap it with universal air filter foam.
β¨ Key Features
- Fully Parametric: Adjust the Neck Diameter to fit ANY MAF sensor, turbo inlet, or silicone coupler (60mm, 70mm, 80mm, 100mm, etc.).
- Custom Size: Change the width and height of the mushroom dome to fit tight engine bays.
- 3 Cage Styles:
- Straight: Classic racing look.
- Vortex: Spiraled ribs (matches my Vortex Velocity Stack!).
- Lattice: Cross-pattern for maximum structural strength.
- Secure Fit: Includes a retention ridge on the base for a solid grip with hose clamps.
π οΈ How to Build It
- Customize: Click the green "Customize" button. Measure your intake pipe and set the Neck Diameter. Choose your style.
- Print: Use heat-resistant material (see below).
- Foam: Buy a sheet of universal air filter foam (e.g., Uni Filter, Ramair sheet).
- Assemble: Cut the foam to size, wrap it around the printed cage, and secure the top cap with a bolt or glue.
π¨οΈ Print Settings
- Material: ABS, ASA, or PAHT-CF is highly recommended for under-hood temperatures. PETG might work for cold air intakes, but PLA will melt.
- Walls: 3-4 perimeters for stiffness.
- Infill: 20-30% Grid or Gyroid.
- Supports: Minimal supports might be needed for the base flange, depending on orientation.
Disclaimer: This is a DIY component. Ensure the foam is properly secured before running the engine. Use at your own risk.
