🎄 Christmas Vacation – Clark Griswold Fully Lit 🎄
“Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas…
Kiss my @$$, Kiss his @$$, Kiss your @$$, Happy Hanukkah.”
— Clark Griswold
Inspired by one of my all-time favorite holiday movies, this diorama recreates the iconic Christmas Vacation poster moment where Clark commits 100% to a terrible, glorious lighting decision.
This is a character-driven holiday diorama designed to capture that exact split second of festive chaos.
✅ Sized right up to the limit and fully printable on the Bambu A1 Mini
🏠 Printing & Assembly Notes
- The main house body prints separately in solid black to reduce color changes and speed up printing
- Snow caps and siding pieces include alignment pegs to ensure clean registration with the front fascia
- The chimney installs first, before the siding and snow pieces are added
- A rear battery compartment lets you hide your fairy-light battery box and adds needed weight for stability
This design was built to assemble cleanly without frustration.
💡 Lighting (Intentionally Chaotic)
- Fairy lights are routed from the rear, through the internal opening, and out through the hole in the snow/siding
- There is no forced wire channel — this is on purpose
- This should look chaotic
- You get to choose your own routing
- Messy wires are part of the Christmas Vacation charm
Once the base is assembled, wrap lights however you want:
- Across the roof
- Up the chimney
- And finally around Clark himself
Use glue, glue dots, hot glue, or any method you prefer to secure the lights.
🎅 Clark Assembly
- Use the large mounting peg to connect Clark directly to the chimney
- Clark is designed to float forward, selling the illusion and keeping him the clear focal point
- The structure and balance are hidden so the effect works cleanly from normal viewing angles
✅ Additional Notes
- Beginner-friendly assembly
- Works great as a lit holiday display or centerpiece
- Perfect for warm white or colored (unfortunately I was out of colored)
- fairy lights
