Introducing the original PayWand 🪄

Want to support the magic, or need Ministry approval to sell prints? Get the Commercial License on Patreon.

V4 (Bayonet & Rail Update): Evolution of the design featuring a secure quick-lock bayonet system and an adjustable rod system. Improved for better fitment and easier operation. See the changelog for the full breakdown.

If you like the PayWand but want to explore another approach, check out this awesome model by 🤝 @rokel: Fairy Pay Wand. Real wizards own both wands.

Introduction part one: (Yes, there is part two, exactly like the seventh book)

Because regular wallets are for Muggles.

Gringotts finally entered the 21st century. Contactless payments are now supported.

Forget your wallet. Forget your phone. Just wave your PayWand and watch the magic happen.

This enchanted wand lets you pay like a real wizard: simply “swish and flick” at the terminal and let the spell of Expecto PayPassum do the work.

🌟 Key Features

  • No glue or potions required. Unless you want extra magical stability.
  • Single Plate Sorcery. Prints entirely on one plate if you are happy with a single color.
  • Easy assembly, even a troll could manage it.
  • Universal Fit: Designed for standard bank cards (Muggle-approved dimensions).
  • Strength vs. Vanity: You can print the rod horizontally (lying down) makes it orders of magnitude stronger. Be warned: this method leaves visible support marks and might sound a bit 'crunchy' during assembly, but it will be tougher than a Troll’s hide.

⚠️Warning:

Excessive wand-waving in shops may lead to confused cashiers, unexpected compliments, and mild chaos.
May cause suspicion at payment terminals. Cashiers will ask questions.
You may unintentionally become a local legend.

Legal Notice: The Ministry of Magic may initiate formal proceedings if used outside approved wizarding zones.

Introduction part two:

It appears my previous wand couldn't handle the pressure, I tried "Reparo," but it didn't work... Whether it was poor material choice, a backfired jinx, or simply my pronunciation (it’s Levi-O-sa, not Levio-SA!), the old wand snapped. Consequently, I’ve completed a course in Advanced Charms and reforged the PayWand from the ground up!

What’s New?

This version has been tested in real-world Muggle environments.

  • Structural Strengthening: I’ve thickened the walls in key areas and applied Chamfer and Fillet charms to ensure the threads won't snap.
  • The Stabilizing Thingy™ : I added a dedicated reinforcement piece at the card slot. This keeps the thread rigid while you screw the rod on, preventing any heartbreaking cracks during assembly.
  • Refined Tolerances: Tolerances were recalibrated after extensive experimentation with multiple filaments.
  • +5 Fire Resistance against unexpected fireballs cast by hostile shopkeepers

🧪 Alchemist’s Notes

I have prepared two distinct formulas for your convenience:

  1. PLA Version: The most stable choice.
  2. PETG Version: Can be good too, though it requires a more controlled incantation to print successfully.
  3. ⚠️ The Silk Trap: While Silk filaments are shiny and "ooh-la-la" beautiful, beware: they are the most brittle. Choose them at your own peril, unless you want to end up like Ron with a taped-together wand.

🧽 Proper Rituals

Before crafting this new version, I performed a sacred ritual: I washed my build stone with warm soapy water and thoroughly dried my ingredients. This ritual drastically improves the success of your conjuring!

Due to the new Stabilizing Thingy™, inserting and removing your card has evolved from a one-handed flick to a two-handed mastery. To avoid any structural damage, use one hand to hold the card and one finger of your other hand to gently pry the slot open just enough for the card to slide.

A Humble Correction:

I previously claimed a Troll could manage the assembly. Based on recent field reports, I may have overestimated their intelligence. Let’s just say it’s now "Squib-friendly."

📢 Daily Prophet (Changelog)

  • [2026-05-13]:
    • Added Mario edition

  • [2026-02-27]:
    • Version 3.5 Update (V3.5)
      • Redesigned Threads: Implemented a completely new modeling approach for all threaded sections.
        • Increased Durability: The new thread geometry provides significantly better stability and mechanical strength.
        • Resolved Print Issues: Addressed feedback from multiple users, the threads now print reliably and smoothly without the previously reported errors.

  • [2026-02-12]:
    • Version 3.1 Update (V3.1)
      • Customizable Tolerances: You can now fine-tune the fit for your specific printer and filament.
      • Customizable Rod lenght
      • Rounded Corners: Added the option for rounded edges for a smoother feel and look.
      • Customizable Text: The base profiles now include editable text fields.
      • Lanyard Hole: Added a small hole for wrist straps or charms.
      • Recommended Tolerances:
        • PLA: 1.03
        • PETG: 1.04
        • (Feel free to experiment with these values to find your perfect fit!)
      • Printing Tip: I highly recommend downloading the official print profiles to use my tested settings. If you prefer your own settings, please use "Normal Manual" support as shown in the reference image.

    • 🔥 New: Version 4 (V4) – The "Bayonet" Edition:
      • Bayonet Lock: No more threads! V4 features a secure bayonet-style locking mechanism for faster assembly and a cleaner look.
      • Adjustable Rod: Not only a retractable rod, a fully adjustable length system.
      • Tolerances Options: I have uploaded two versions:
        • Normal: Tested extensively with both PLA and PETG – works perfectly on well-calibrated machines.
        • Looser: A more forgiving version if your filament tends to swell or your printer needs more clearance.

  • [2026-01-21]: V3 - The "Choose Your Rod" Update Updated the V3 profile to include the Horizontal Rod on a separate plate.
    • Two Paths: You can now choose which rod version to conjure.
      • Vertical Rod: Standard aesthetic finish.
      • Horizontal Rod: Superior strength (Battle-Ready).
        • Note: Visible support marks on the horizontally printed rod.
    • Action: Simply select and print the rod orientation you need!

  • [2026-01-15]: "Multi-size Rod Collection - PLA + PETG (50-200mm, only rods)" profile added
  • [2026-01-15]: V3 (The Rework Update)

    • This is a complete structural rework of the original model to improve durability, printability, and assembly.
    • 🧱 Structural Improvements
      • Reinforced Geometry: Increased wall thickness in high-stress areas.
      • Edge Refinement: Applied fillets and chamfers throughout the model to reduce stress concentrations and provide a more premium feel.
      • Thread Durability: Strengthened the threaded sections to prevent snapping during assembly or daily use.
      • The "Stabilizer Feature": Added a dedicated reinforcement thingy in the card slot to keep the threads rigid while the rod is being screwed in.
    • 🧪 Material & Tolerance Tuning
      • Calibrated Tolerances: Adjusted clearances based on extensive testing with multiple filament types.
      • Material-Specific Profiles:
        • PLA Version: Recommended for most users
        • PETG Version: Specifically tuned for the flow and shrinkage characteristics of PETG
    • ⚠️ Warning on Silk Filaments: Look, we all know Silk looks absolutely dazzling and fancy-shmancy, but it is a trap! It has significantly lower layer adhesion and is far more prone to snapping at the threads than regular PLA. Use it at your own peril!

  • [2026-01-03]:
    • Added modifiers to threaded parts to use 4 walls instead of 2 and Increased infill on threads to 25% (from 20%)
    • Applied -0.1 XY compensation (based on multiple user suggestions)
    •
  • [2025-12-20]: Improved tolerances for easier assembly. (Please ensure the brim is completely removed.)
