Fruit Fly Trap

Most fly traps are something you try to hide.
This one was designed to belong out in the open.

This mushroom-shaped fly trap keeps things simple, functional, and good-looking — whether it’s sitting on a kitchen counter or tucked into a plant.

The model prints as four separate pieces:

• Base for stability
• Trap cup that holds the liquid bait
• Mushroom cap that forms a tapered entrance to guide flies in
• Trap insert that helps direct flies downward and makes escaping difficult

All parts fit together cleanly, require no supports, and print quickly.

How to use:

Add about 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a small drop of dish soap to the trap cup.
The vinegar attracts flies, while the soap breaks surface tension so they can’t get back out.

After testing different setups, this design proved effective — without looking like a typical fly trap.
