Print Settings
For the best results in an aquatic environment, please follow these recommendations:
- Material: PETG is highly recommended for longevity in water. PLA can be used but may degrade faster over time. Ensure your filament is clean and free of toxic additives.
- Layer Height: 0.12 mm or 0.16 mm to capture the rock texture details.
- Infill: 5-15% Grid or Gyroid.
- Supports: My model is printed without support but tree supports can be used depending on your printer.
- Walls/Perimeters: 2 or 3 walls to ensure the part is robust and watertight.
IMPORTANT: FDM prints contain air and will float. To keep this model submerged, you must choose one of these methods:
- Weighted Print: Pause the print at approx 10-20% height and fill the hollow infill space with heavy non-toxic items (like glass marbles, aquarium gravel, or stainless steel nuts) before resuming.
- Mounting: Use aquarium-safe silicone or super glue (cyanoacrylate gel) to attach the printed model to a heavy slate rock or the bottom of the tank glass.
