Give your aquarium unmatched depth and a natural, rugged look with this 3D printable rock background. Designed to mimic realistic stone formations, this textured panel provides a stunning backdrop for your aquatic plants and fish, while effectively hiding unsightly filter pipes, heaters, and cords.
Key Features:
- Realistic Texture: Detailed rock crevices and facets that look amazing under aquarium lighting.
- Fully Scalable: The design can be resized in your slicer to fit virtually any tank dimensions.
- Modular Design: Print multiple tiles to seamlessly cover large tank backlogs.
📏 Sizing and Customization (Important!)
The provided print profile is for a single tile measuring 20cm x 20cm.
- To fit your tank: Measure your tank's back panel. You can easily scale the X and Y dimensions in Bambu Studio (or other slicers) to match your exact requirements.
- For large tanks: Chop it up in the slicer and add connectors.
🖨️ Printing Recommendations
This model is designed to be easy to print.
- Material: PETG is recommended for long-term submerged use as it is durable and resistant to degradation in water. PLA can work but may degrade slowly over many years underwater.
- Layer Height: 0.16 or 0.20mm quality works great. The rock texture hides layer lines very well.
- Infill: 5% - 15% Gyroid or grid is sufficient.
- Supports: Just a few tree supports where the overhang is to high.
🛠️ Installation Guide
Important Note: Like most 3D prints, this background will float. It must be secured to the tank glass.
- Prepare the Tank: Ensure your aquarium is completely empty, clean, and dry.
- Test Fit: Place your printed background(s) into the tank to ensure the fit is correct.
- Secure: Use 100% Aquarium-Safe Silicone sealant. Apply generous beads of silicone to the flat back of the 3D print. Press it firmly against the back glass of the tank.
- Seal Edges (Optional but recommended): Run a bead of silicone around the perimeter of the background to prevent small fish or fry from getting trapped behind it.
