This project has been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to finally share it with the 3D printing community and motorsport fans!
Behind countless hours of designing, prototyping, and refining all the details, hides my passion for making things, engineering, tinkering, and sharing it, but mostly my love for racing cars!
Details
This F1 Active Aero model is designed for precise printing and precise assembly.
Components: The model is composed of a total of 20 pieces, separated for optimal printing and to minimize supports.
Mechanism: The core feature is the internal mechanism which drives the motion of the flaps, creating a realistic, functional Active Aero system of the new f1 cars of 2026
Assembly: All pieces are designed to be connected using robust built-in snap connectors, meaning little to no glue or extra hardware is required for assembly.
Scale1:5 (based on a real 1900mm wing span)
Dimensions: 364 x 271 x 112mm
Tested on: Bambu Lab A1 Combo
Difficulty: Medium (Requires careful assembly and fine-tuning).
⚠️ PLEASE LOOK AT THE ASSEMBLY GUIDE PDF UNDER DOCUMENTATION ⚠️
Important Notes Before Printing ⚠️
Tolerances: The mechanism uses tight clearances (most are 0.15mm). Ensure your printer is well-calibrated, or try to adjust your printer settings to achieve the best results.
Glue will be required during assembly. Before applying glue, make sure to test-fit the parts to ensure a perfect fit and avoid any mistakes.
Filaments: I used BambuLab PLA BASIC, result may differ if you use other filament types
Assembly Guide: Please refer to the comprehensive Assembly Guide (PDF) provided in the files for step-by-step instructions.
This project was entirely made by me in Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced in Bambu Studio, printed on my Bambu Lab A1 Combo, and published with the Maker World Exclusive Program.
Hope you find the same joy I found building this project!
