Description
I designed a travel toothbrush container for my Philips Sonicare 5100 series electric toothbrush. I went with a minimalist design following the contour of the toothbrush body to reduce overall size. I provide two option, one with magnet pockets and one with out. The clip on the cover has enough retention to secure the lid shut but I wanted to provide an option to use magnets as well. Magnet size 6mm OD x 2mm thick.
The hinge on the case is designed to use 1.7mm filament as the pin and I secure them in place by heat staking the ends with a hot nail. The case also has drain holes at the base of the toothbrush body compartment as well as the toothbrush head compartment. To allow airflow and for moisture to escape.
The toothbrush head compartment has a inner boss to press brush head onto and secure in place.
Below are picture instructions for assembly:
2. Heatstake one end of the pin (*I used a 12gauge nail and mini torch, don't overheat the nail and try on a practice piece first.)
3. Trim the other end of the pin till there's about 1mm sticking out and repeat the heatstaking process. Hold the opposite end of the pin so it doesn't push out.
4. Remove print support with a pair of pliers by twisting 90 degrees. Press toothbrush head onto inner boss to secure brush head in place.
5. Final step press body magnets into pockets. Ensure both magnets are in proper orientation so the magnetic pulls don't oppose each other.
