It took a long time, but here it is! The first fully printable life-size Christmas tree. Customizable to any size you want. Fully printable from PLA. The tree shown is 1 meter tall. However, it should also be possible to build one over 2 meters tall.
Good to know in advance:
The tree is at the limit of what is possible with a standard printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle and PLA. It is a decorative object with very fine parts, and anyone who has ever printed thin parts from PLA knows that they are very fragile. The tree is not cat or child-proof :D
Make sure you print on a clean print bed with good adhesion. It is best to use spray adhesive or glue sticks as well. I also set the print bed to 55°C.
Allow yourself enough time and space. The 1-meter tree consists of almost 500 parts. It takes a while to assemble them.
For assembly:
Work your way from the trunk to the branches and insert the needle branches at the very end.
As mentioned above, the thin pine branches are very fragile. Do not use too much force when inserting them and twist them gently. The ends do not need to be fully inserted to be secure.
I really hope you like the design! Anddon'tforgettoleavealike. I would love to see some pictures of printed Christmas trees! Feel free to write and tell me what you think of the tree and whether you have any suggestions for improvement!
