Description
This customizable collapsible saber is the fourth (4th) collection of many different designs that I wanted to create.
I am just getting into the 3D design space and trying new things with my 3D printer, and these collapsible sabers have been the result of my tinkering.
The sections screw together and meant to be interchangeable with all the parts in this collection. Here is a link to the whole collection: https://makerworld.com/en/@bill.m.davis/collections/713533
This version includes an enclosure for a flashlight to make a translucent blade glow!
These are the flashlights I use with this design (Non-affiliated links):
(9/27/2024) Updated Pen Light Enclosure! (Version 2)
This new light enclosure is much bigger because it can hold a much larger flashlight!
(Non-affiliate link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09GCLPW83 )
The new “holders” (A and B) hold the pen light in place, and the holder with the flashlight in it slides into the back of the light module and cap makes sure the flashlight/holder combination don't fall out. The button to turn the flashlight on/off is accessed through a hole in the cap.
Version 2 also includes an extended cap so you can cover those longer (5.2") pen lights.
The new version also includes an option for a connector cap to combine two sabers end-to-end (instead of the light module).
(8/1/2024) Updated to include a Vase-Mode version of the Blade
I have had several people attempt/request a vase-mode version of the blade used in these sabers.
My biggest issue was thickness of each section to ensure they catch and not fly out when extended. I was able to increase the width of the blade walls by adding indentions that cause the vase-mode to go in and out when creating the wall. This appears to have resulted in the desired wall thickness.
This is still experimental, but the results have looked amazing when using transparent/translucent filaments and a light!
Boost MeBoosts let me know if my effort is worth it. It takes a lot of time to come up with and test all these designs and improvements. Let me know which ones you really love.
