Description

This is a Vixen-compatible mounting plate designed for astrophotography setups. It allows you to securely mount both a Raspberry Pi 4B (in a case) and the SVBONY SV241 Astronomy DC+USB Hub Box on a telescope using a standard Vixen dovetail system.

The plate was designed to keep cables short, reduce clutter, and place control electronics directly on the telescope, which is especially useful for portable or remote astrophotography rigs.

Mounting to the Telescope

The plate is attached to the telescope ring using a standard tripod screw thread (1/4"-20 UNC) with a clamping nut.
In my setup, I used the screw and nut that were supplied with the telescope.

SVBONY SV241 Mounting

  • The SVBONY SV241 hub is mounted using two M4 screws
  • I used M4×12 (DIN 912) screws together with 3D-printed spacers
  • Alternatively, the hub can also be mounted using its standard 1/4"-20 UNC tripod thread

Raspberry Pi 4B Case Mounting

  • The Raspberry Pi 4B case is mounted with two M3×8 screws
  • Two M3 nuts are embedded directly into the printed part
(printing was paused at the required layer to insert the nuts)
  • Distance between screw centers in my Raspberry Pi case: 55 mm
⚠ Please verify this dimension for your own case before printing.
