Description
This is a Christmas-themed print-in-place planetary gear fidget spinner that brings the holidays to life! It features a unique animated ring design on the outside. As you rotate the fidget, you will see:
To make this toy accessible for everyone, I have added a finger hole in the center gear. Even though the spinner has a relatively large diameter, this hole allows kids or anyone with smaller hands to hold and spin it comfortably!
Color Design (Multicolor Profiles): To minimize filament changes and waste, the full color details for the characters are applied only to the top and bottom surfaces (1mm depth).
Customizing the Center Colors:
Note: This customization must be done in Bambu Studio (desktop) or some other slicing software. This feature is not available in the Bambu Handy mobile app as far as I am aware.
You can customize the pattern of the middle layers (the core) using the Color Painting tool. This allows you to change the core design without affecting the detailed faces on the top and bottom.
Steps to Customize:
- Open the .3mf file in Bambu Studio
- Click on the fidget spinner object to select it
- Click the Color Painting tool (bucket icon) on the top toolbar (or press N)
- Select the "Height Range" tool type. This allows you to paint horizontal bands of color
Example: Applying the "Candy Cane" Pattern to the Snowman To give the Snowman the same 5-layer striped core as the Reindeer, use the Height Range tool to paint bands of color between the following heights:
- 1.0 mm to 3.8 mm: Paint Red
- 3.8 mm to 6.6 mm: Paint White
- 6.6 mm to 9.4 mm: Paint Red
- 9.4 mm to 12.2 mm: Paint White
12.2 mm to Top: Paint Red
For a single-color core (e.g., solid white), simply select White and paint the entire middle section from 1.0 mm up to the top detail layers.

🖨️ Recommended Print Settings:
Note: To achieve a print-in-place design, the gear tolerances are very fine (~0.1 mm in some places), so it is strongly recommended not to alter the provided print profile settings (unless you know what you are doing). Changing the profile may cause the slicer to accidentally fuse the gears together.
Feedback is always welcome. Happy printing! ❄️☃️
