Description
After looking around for strap locks on MakerWorld (and seeing at least three different people post the same one which was obviously not their design), I decided to design my own because of how flimsy the other options were.
My design is:
Downsides (consider these before you print)
Despite this, I think well worth it to have it as an added layer of protection for my guitar.
General Info
This strap lock is simply two ‘jaws’ that are bolted together with two M3x10 bolts. (12 would probably work, and so will 15, but it may stick out the other side). This design was made for the bolts that I got from Maker's Supply, where the head has a diameter of 5.45mm. Please check that the heads of your bolts are around the same diameter or smaller, or it may not fit.
Assembly
Please try not to overtighten these when you're putting them together, as the bolts are only tapping miniscule threads in the plastic. I would do a half turn after I feel a sudden increase in resistance as the two jaws start to clamp down. This allows the locks to freely rotate with the strap while still being secure.
Filament Choice
I also do not recommend printing this in any Carbon or Glass filled filaments as it will wear down your strap button over time. PETG and PLA work great, but I would avoid flexible filaments such as TPU.
Boost MeIf you printed this, and it works well, please do consider boosting, as it helps me to get more filament and equipment to keep designing new models, thanks :)
Other
Sorry for not uploading boomerangs in ages. I have a couple models in the works, and will upload them after the festive season so that they don't get buried amongst the Christmas prints.
