EDC Small Pocket Knife and Screwdriver Modular

I have added a slightly longer knife cap. This allows you to use a medium duty hobby knife which is slightly bigger and stronger. There are also many shape blades you can get for this. The only other thing you have to do to use the medium duty knife is use a M6 heat set instead of the M5. I have attached a picture of what I used. I am also including a link to the hobby knives I got from Amazon. The size is the same, just a little longer, still very pocketable. 

Inspired by some other tools like this that I have seen, I decided to make my own. My goal was to make it as small as possible but still completely usable and strong as well as being more than just a screwdriver. You can make this as short or as long as you like. It can be as short as 40mm with a single bit and cap. 

The pieces are about 17mm in diameter. This is as small as I could make this and still feel like it is strong and will hold up well in your pocket. 

I wanted a way to have a knife blade along with screwdriver bits, so I added a small hobby knife end to one piece. You will need a brass heat set thread to be able to install this. The heat sets that I used are pictured. I used M5 as I found that most of the cheap hobby knives use this (but not all of them do, I have found some that have bigger threads). I did also try this with M6 heat sets and they worked just fine too. 

The pieces (so far) are as follows:

Double ended bit holder

Single bit holder

Single bit holder with open end (to add 1 extra bit to a double end)

Hobby knife holder with open end

Hobby knife End cap

Standard End cap

End cap with lanyard hole and 8mm x 2mm magnet

Hobby knife end cap with 8mm x 2mm magnet

The magnetic ends are able to stick to each other (make sure your magnet orientation is correct).

There is an added bonus of the magnetic ends also. If you take the cap off the bit and stick it to the other end, it helps you hold the screwdriver and spin it easier. 

The hobby knives that I use are just cheap packs that can be purchased on Amazon and taken apart to install into this tool. 

I would recommend PETG, but PLA will also work. I tried making these in carbon fibler and glass fiber filaments and although they did print fine, the threads were very tight and needed to be tightened and loosened many times before it worked properly. Using PETG and PLA everything printed and assembled perfect.
