Description
Ratchet straps have a very high Barrel of Monkeys Coefficient. I tend to spend more time untangling them than actually hooking them up and using them. This organizer fixes that, making it easy to wind and store them.
Victorian Stereoscope meets strap spool. I really like using these, and now getting out a few ratchet straps to take a load to the dump is easy.
Prints fine in both PLA and PETG. If you're going to keep it in your car I suggest PETG since car interiors can get really hot. Everything prints with no supports/standard settings.
I guess if you wanted to put a few extra perimeters into the base in the area where the hoop clips in you could, but I haven't had any issues so far.
If you measure your ratchets at the widest point, and it is > 50mm, measure the widest part + a small amount of extra space and divide by 50mm to figure out what scale you should print at.
The outer hoop is designed to press against the coiled strap. If it doesn't do that it doesn't lock into place well. Usually you can get away with just the standard hoop, but if that ends up being too loose/tight for the thickness of coiled strap you have, I have provided a hoop for extra short straps and one for extra long straps. That way you only have to reprint that one small piece.
In the V5 of these, I only had 1 hole to put these on a pegboard peg, but that made it so you could accidentally put the lid on backward, and you're have to reverse it. So I switched to 2 holes. It's still best if the reel part of the ratchet is positioned at the end of the holder that has the slot. Just so you're not blocking the peg board peg.
I did a lot of revs to get this right. I guess this is my holiday gift to everyone. Enjoy!
