Expanding Pill Organizer/Fidget

Description

This pill organizer/fidget uses a self-locking expansion mechanism to expand the 7 pill containers out in a circular motion upon torsion of the mechanism. The mechanism clicks into place when fully retracted, making the container portable. If not used for pills, it can also be used as a fidget toy. It prints in 40 minutes, with each cartridge being just over 8.5x23x5mm.

Assembly

 

Take everything off the build plate, make sure not to overly bend the 1mm thick outer parts of the circle pieces,

Slot the 7 cartridges into their slots (There is no specific order)

Place the top of the mechanism over this. Make sure that all 7 sliding cartridges are in the fully retracted position as you push down very forcefully on the top piece. Apply a twisting as you push, and you will hear the mechanism click into place.

 

Once the mechanism is in place, twist left to reveal the containers. Twist right to conceal them. If you are using the mechanism as a pill container, make sure to open it in the right orientation to avoid the pills falling out. 

The “bottom” of the container is signified by small notches below the cartridges. Open with these notches facing down to avoid spills. 

 

To retrieve pills or other small objects placed in the cartridges, slide the object out through the ramp built into the side of each cartridge.
