The groin protector is on 2 hinges, allowing the legs to retain full movement.

HISTORY
The Improved Outer Tactical Vest, or IOTV was the replacement of the OTV (Outer Tactical Vest) component of the Interceptor multi-threat body armor (IBA) system, with increased armor, even distribution of weight, increased mobility and flexibility, and the ability to fall apart when a lanyard is pulled, allowing for escape and access to injured body parts. The IOTV is the standard body armor of the U.S army through 2007-Present, but is being phased out and replaced by the MSV (Modular Scalable Vest), which was introduced back in 2018.
ATTRIBUTES
An IOTV fully equipped with all of its armor (neck protection, side protection, etc), weighs around 30 pounds, or 14 kg, while a large IOTV weighs about 35 pounds, or 16 kg.Â
An IOTV not equipped with ballistic ceramic plates has the ability to stop 124 grain 9mm FMJ at 1,400 ft/s with just the soft armor panels. The IOTV can be equipped with a variety of armor plates, including SAPI (Small Arms Protective Insert), E-SAPI (Enhanced Small Arms Protective Insert), and X-SAPI plates (X Threat Small Arms Protective Insert). With these plates, the IOTV can stop significantly bigger rounds, with the E-SAPI being able to stop up to .30-06 Springfield M2 AP rounds.

If you can't get the groin protection to fit onto the waist armor hinge, then sand down the bumps on the armor first.
