Description
This is a modular system to hold rolls of vinyl, paper, or any other item that comes in rolls. I designed this for someone that recently got a Cricut Explorer and was looking for ideas to organize the vinyl rolls they had. Online options were kinda expensive for what they are and the print files I found online were mostly static 3 x 3 or 2 x 4 rigid blocks without any expand-ability.
This is a compete set made to size up however you want. There are a total of 5 main parts with multiple variations each on their own plate:
The fasteners hold enough to not come loose but still snap in and out relatively easily. The holders were all designed with a couple extra fillets to eliminate overhangs so no support should be needed. I also tried to optimize them as much as possible while still being sturdy, the Standard Compact holder is what is pictured and comes in at just under 15g of filament each. Also everything scales well if you are looking to make something bigger or smaller, just scale each part equally and it should all fit together correctly.
The more long fasteners used the more rigid the structure is, the less used and the more play there will be. Since the filament usage is overall low I recommend using as many long connectors as possible for the least amount of movement. The difference between wiggle and sturdy for a standard 3 x 3 grid is like 50g of extra filament so it's usually worth it.
