Railroad Island - Mini Train Diorama

2025 was the year of the “Mini Train,” which is why I saved something special for the end of the year. In Railroad Island, the concept of inside and outside is slightly reversed. On the island, the small train runs beside palm trees and through a cave, while on the outside, ships travel along the coast.

As with all the other dioramas, you can turn the hand-wheel to set the ships and the train in motion, or place the diorama into the motorized boxes to maximize the fun.

You can also replace the sailboat with the Mini Benchy from the previous diorama.    

Printing:

Following PLA Basic Filaments are used 

Silver/Grey 

Cocoa Brown

Black

White

Cyan

Bambu Green 

Red (Lighthouse)

 

Other colors are possible of course, look what you have in stock. 

 

I printed as always with a 0,4mm nozzle! Iam very pleased with the result, but you can try a 0,2 nozzle as well.

Assembly:

You need 6pcs round 4x2 magnets for the train with the wagons

and 2pcs round 4x2 magnets more for each ship (up to 2). In total 10x magnets

 

1. Insert 3pcs  Magnets in the train, wagons and ships with same polarity direction
2. Insert 3 magnets into the inner track and hold them with the train and wagon from the other side
3. Insert 2 magnets to the outer track and hold them with the ships

4. Adjust all magnets so the hand-wheel can catch all magnets

5. Press the hand-wheel in place . Check again if all magnets are captured correctly

6. Remove the train and put the terrain on top
7. Use the trees &, houses and a bit of glue to combine base with terrain
8. Put the train back on track and have fun.
