Description

This is an adaptation of the excellent Universal Razor Blade Scraper made to fit blades made by the Japanese company Tool Company Straight.

It was a bit tough to source these types of blades in Japan, and I really wanted to use this scraper due to its angle. However, the side notches didn't fit into the blade's gap, and the blade bottom was too thick for the trough. I tried using the original scraper after filing down the side notches, but the blade had an alarming tendency to slip and pop out the sides.

Additionally, it bothers me to have sharps out without some kind of protection, so I made two types of cases that are included in the print profile:

  1. A thin, slim fit case: fits exactly, so you have use some force to remove and insert the scraper. Has some wall deformation artifacts around the lock due to the thinness
  2. A thicker, loose case: sturdier and without the wall deformation artifacts, the scraper has some wiggle room to the sides

Differences from the Universal Razor Blade Scraper

  • Middle and side notches raised more for a more secure lock
  • Side notches resized and relocated to fit the Japanese blades
  • Trough deepened to fit the base of the Japanese blades

Installation tips

  • Use self-tapping M2.5 x 6 screws (the same as the ones provided by Bambu for the scraper in the toolkit)
