Belly Rub T-Rex

Meet the Belly Rub T-Rex, the first release in my new Dino Series 🦕

This model is slightly larger than my previous belly rub designs due to the dino shape. I have improved the belly rub mechanism by adding grooves for a smoother, more satisfying interaction.

 

This is a gear-driven interactive toy designed to mimic a pet’s playful reaction to belly rubs. When you rub the belly, the internal mechanical system transfers the motion to the paws and feet, making them move up and down in response. It’s entirely mechanical — no electronics required, and it also works great as a fidget toy.

 

The increased size also makes this model electronics-friendly, and I’ll be releasing an LED version very soon.

🔧 How It Works

The toy uses a simple gear-driven mechanism. Pressure applied to the belly is transferred through interconnected gears, creating a smooth and responsive limb movement.
The design is optimized for support-free printing and easy assembly.

 

The model can be scaled up or down, though I haven’t tested all sizes and scaling may affect mechanism performance.

• Face plate: Snap-fit
• Paws & feet: Press-fit
  • A small dab of super glue can be used if your printer tolerances are loose and parts spin freely.
