Description

Simple Heltec V4 case that requires no mounting hardware. Though does require access to TPU material to print the bumper case which largely holds the antenna in place. Otherwise everything just slides in.

Requires:

  • TPU 95 (or similar – Can get away without if you don't need it to be too secure)
  • Any solid filament (I used PETG)

Fits:

  • 2.4ghz BLE + WiFi SMA Antenna (2.4G 11CM SMA Male – https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005535644339.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.175.6dc61802Wg7SKj)
  • LoRa SMA Antenna
  • GPS Module
  • 2000mah Battery (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002919536938.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.230.6dc61802Wg7SKj)

2.4ghz Antenna:

Anecdotally I have found little benefit in using a standalone antenna for WiFi but a huge range improvement for bluetooth. Able to connect 3 rooms away on BLE. Only attempt if you are comfortable with soldering such tiny components.

The default 2.4G FPC antenna is located on the side of the plastic screen bracket.

If you wish to use an IPEX-connected 2.4G antenna, you need to remove the inductor marked as ① in the diagram below, and add a 0-ohm resistor (or other conductive metal or cable) at the position marked ② to connect to the IPEX interface.

How to fit Buttons:

Simply turn the case screen side down. And slide the buttons in from the large opening such that the shorter one ends up on the RST button. They should fall into place easily but if not get your finger in through the screen hole and move it into position. Then keep the case in this orientation while sliding in the Heltec V4, and everything attached to it in and it will hold the buttons in place.

Note: There should be little to no resistance when sliding the module in. Check the position of the buttons if you experience any.
