EXTERNAL FILAMENT SPOOL BOX / DRYER

The filament spool features:

  • easy use of an external spool when using the MODULAR POOP BIN + ACCESSORIES AND BUILD PLATES STORAGE SYSTEM
  • proper printing conditions for moisture-sensitive filaments
  • three ways to connect the filament to the printer
  • storage options for moisture-sensitive filaments
  • appearance matching the Bambu Lab style
  • fits Bambu Lab or smaller spools

I used Bambu Lab PLA Basic for this project. I adjusted the dimensions for this filament and tested the parts' strength.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Install the TPU feet. If you're using my MODULAR POOP BIN + ACCESSORIES AND BUILD PLATES STORAGE SYSTEM, use the additional foot hole.

  2. Print the four bearings you can find at this link: https://makerworld.com/en/models/473167-608z-6000z-6001z-roller-bearing-v2#profileId-383170
  3. Install the bearing on the axle.

  4. Slide the bearing with the axle into the roller.

  5. Slide the bearing in from the other side.

  6. Place the rollers in the base.

  7. Make sure that the axles fit properly into the guides.

  8. Press the TPU gasket into the slot.

  9. Print and place your chosen grommet into the hole. I made it a tight fit, so it may require some force. Due to the thread and the required different layer height, I placed the grommet for the PTFE connector on a separate plate.

  10. Press the handle into the cover until you hear a click. When inserting it, be careful not to break the protruding compression spring.

  11. Put the cover on and insert the pins.

  12. Using a funnel, fill the containers with desiccant and place them inside.

  13. External Spool Box is ready for use.

    Enjoy!
