Steampunk Mini-Reactor Torch & Magnetic Wall Mount

The Steampunk Mini-Reactor Torch is a compact, fully 3D-printed torch designed to bring the same industrial fantasy aesthetic of its full-size counterpart into a smaller, more accessible format. Featuring riveted metal textures, valve wheels, and layered mechanical detailing, this torch looks like a relic pulled from a Victorian engine room—scaled perfectly for desks, doorways, hallways, and smaller display spaces.

Designed with printer accessibility in mind, this model fits comfortably on smaller build plates, making it ideal for makers using compact or entry-level printers. The torch mounts securely to the wall using a magnetic wall bracket, allowing it to be easily removed, repositioned, or used as a handheld prop.

Instead of custom electronics, the Mini-Reactor Torch is designed to work with standard LED tealight candles, making it beginner-friendly and safe while still producing a warm, flickering glow through the translucent flame diffuser.

Finishing & Filament Notes

The flame prints beautifully in translucent PLA for maximum light diffusion. The torch body shines with metallic paints—especially antique gold, brass, and silver rub n' buff—using dry brushing to bring out the mechanical details and aged patina. I utilized two 12x3mm magnets as that is what I had on hand. You can adjust the disc cutout on the torch to meet your needs!

Instructions:

1.  Insert the LED Tealight Candle into the Bottom of the Flame diffuser
2. Align the tabs on the bottom of the flame with the cutouts inside the bowl of the torch and push the flame into place.
3. Press fit a 12x3mm magnet (or a size of your choice if you adjust the cutout) into the designated spot on the back of the torch.
   1. I use a drop of superglue to ensure it all stays in place.
4. Pressfit an identically sized magnet into the wall mount. Make sure that the side facing out has the opposite polarity of the one in your torch.
5. Fix the mount to the wall with either push pins, screws, or command strips/double-sided tape.
