Universal FilaClip

Here is a very simple and easy to use filament clip. Especially useful if you’re looking for a clip that works while drying filament in the AMS.

 

There are tons of filament clips on MakerWorld, but I couldn’t find one that met all my requirements:

1. As simple as possible
2. Small and lightweight
3. Fast to print
4. Not attached to the spool, allowing optimal storage and use during AMS drying (the spool needs to spin while drying)
5. Quick and easy to attach and detach from the filament
6. No loops around the spool, unlike many other clips

So I designed this clip to match all these points as closely as possible — and it turned out to be very useful!

 

 

The best material for this clip is medium-hard TPU (I used Extrudr Flex Medium: shore A98, VICAT A (VST) 110°C). I also tested it with PETG; it works, but the TPU version feels much smoother 😄
There are two print profiles: for TPU and for PETG. 

Important: Dry your TPU filament before printing!

If the PETG clip is too tight, adjust a “X-Y contour compensation” (default is -0.05mm for PETG, so try -0.1mm)
