Description
A book nook to display your roleplaying and wargaming miniatures, be they D&D or Pathfinder heroes, the commanders of your 40k armies, or the champions of your Age of Sigmar warbands.
The interior slides out and opens to allow easy access to your miniatures, and even has some concealed storage for secret miniatures—perhaps a fallen hero condemned to the underworld, a general that failed you one too many times, or a secret ally soon to make their appearance.
There is a recess in the top of the exterior for LED strips and a 40mm compartment for the electronics. Additionally, the interior panels include a diffuser version to use with lighting, with removable diffuser strips that you can print at whatever infill gives the best light intensity.
Also included are some miniature plaque inserts. These are configured as a parametric model so you can customize the name. Once generated, you can either print using multiple colours using an AMS, or delete the letters and print with debossed text.
Assembly is nice and simple, but will require some CA glue.
Step 1
Assemble the top and bottom rear and interior components
Step 1b (Optional)
If you're using an LED strip, install it now in the recess of the exterior top panel. Ensure there are no elements protruding down as they may catch on the interior panels.
Step 2
Assemble the top and bottom components of the exterior piece
Step 3
Insert the top and bottom components of the left and right plinths into their respective interior pieces.
Step 4
Glue in the 10x2 magnets, making sure to get the polarity correct.
Step 5
Insert the heat-inserts into holes at the top and bottom of the back panel.
Step 6
Press the interior parts, allowing the magnets to hold them together. Insert the back panel so the heat-inserts align with the registration holes. Then slide that assembly into the exterior far enough back that the slides on the top and bottom register in place.
Step 7
Screw in the locking pins to the top and bottom, ensuring they're tightly secured. You may want to apply some lubricant grease at this stage.
Step 7b (Optional)
If using an LED strip and the diffuser interiors, install the diffusion panels now. These should not require any glue, but if they're loose either try printing at a slightly larger scale or use a small amount of CA glue. You can also use this without the panels depending on your setup
Step 8
Install your nook in your book case and insert any name plaques. Fill with minis and enjoy.
