Description
Welcome to the Witch Lair! The perfect accessory to support and organize your magic tomes and potion recipe books! Apart from serving as a Book Nook, it can also serve as a tasteful nightlight for you or one of your close ones. The flickering of an LED tealight creates a soothing, cozy ambiance! This is especially emphasized if you use a translucent filament to print your cauldron brew, as shown here:
The model itself is easy to print, fun to assemble, and requires just a bit of super glue and no AMS at all! The next few sections contain both Print and Assembly Instructions. These should help with both printing and building the Witch Lair with ease!
Print Instructions
The plates are organized by color, allowing you to customize the book nook with the filament of your choice!
The lid on plate 7 is intentionally printed in this orientation to ensure that the front surface of the book nook has the same texture. Please keep this orientation while printing:
The extra plate 10 is not necessary and is only required if you want to print a translucent cauldron brew as shown in the image above. Here, I would recommend some nice translucent PETG as listed in the BOM.
Assembly Instructions
The parts required for assembly will be sorted and grouped by plate number, as depicted in the image below. Steps requiring glue are orange, while steps without glue are highlighted in green in the images.
Step 1:
Take the dowels (square and circular) from plate 2 and glue them below the piece from firewood from plate 2. Then glue the piece on top of the fireplace lid from plate 5.
Step 2:
Take the wall hooks from plate 2 and glue them to the right side of the Book Nook base from plate 6. Then take the front piece from plate 8 of the Book Nook and glue it to the front of the base from plate 6. Now, to add one finishing touch, hang the cutlery from plate 2 on the hooks!
Step 3:
Glue the broom end from plate 1 to the broom stick from plate 2, then place the completed broom stick into the base with the broom stick facing the wall. The base has a plug that aligns with the cutout on the broomstick end.
Step 4:
Take the bench and the books from plate 2 and glue them at the spots shown in the images. The bench's orientation does not matter.
Step 5:
Take the white canvas from plate 4 and glue it into the opening to the left of the bookshelf. Then take the black cat canvas from plate 3 and glue it over the white canvas. This will highlight the cat's facial features.
Take the picture frame from plate 1 and the cat outline canvas from plate 9. Glue the outline into the picture frame's opening. It is supposed to fit very tightly. Once the glue is dry, glue the assembled piece onto the black cat canvas in the Book Nook base, and voila! You got yourself a colored black cat portrait!
Step 6:
Take the wooden beam from plate 2, and place and glue the cobweb from plate 4 into the beam's opening. Glue the assembled piece into the opening on the upper right-hand side of the base. I found it easier to place the base sideways and glue it in, as shown in the image.
Step 7:
Take the cauldron, its metal hook and the chain from plate 2, along with the wooden cross beam from plate 2 and the brew from plate 9 (or extra plate 10). Assemble those pieces together without glue, as shown in the second image below.
Step 8:
For this step, do not use any glue so the items remain accessible.
Start assembling the Witch Lair by placing the turned-on LED tea light in the center of the base. Then cover it with the fireplace assembly from Step 1 and slide the wooden crossbeam and the cauldron assembly from Step 7 over the tea light. Again, do not use any glue so the items remain accessible.
Step 9:
Finally, the last step! Simply place the top cover from plate 7 on the Witch Lair without glue. Make sure the wooden beam with the cobweb is properly seated in the hole of the top cover, as shown in the image below. Then place the witch hat from plate 3 on the bench, and we are done assembling the Book Nook Witch Lair! Congrats!
