Description

Part of the collection of woodland Animals / Woodland Creatures that I am creating.

This illustration provides a stylized, "cute" interpretation of a badger that differs from a realistic anatomical model. For 3D printing, this character is defined by its rounded, pear-shaped proportions and expressive facial features.

1. Character Silhouette and Proportions

  • Body Shape: The character has a bottom-heavy, ovoid or pear-shaped body.
  • Stance: It is depicted in a seated upright position, which provides a stable base for a 3D print.
  • Limbs: The arms and legs are short and thick, tapering into small paws with visible, rounded claws.
  • Tail: A short, thick, rounded tail sits at the base, acting as a third point of contact for physical stability.

2. Facial Features and Head

  • Head Shape: The head is large and rounded with very puffy, prominent cheeks.
  • Eyes: The eyes are large, circular, and set wide apart, giving the character a "kawaii" or juvenile appearance. In a 3D model, these should be slightly recessed or possess a high-gloss finish.
  • Ears: Small, rounded, semi-circular ears sit at the top corners of the head.
  • Snout: A soft, rounded muzzle with a prominent, large black nose.

3. Surface Detail and Texturing

  • Fur Texture: The image uses fine, dense cross-hatching to suggest a soft, fuzzy texture rather than coarse guard hairs. For a 3D print, this could be achieved through a subtle "noise" texture or by painting the fur patterns.
  • Markings: The classic badger stripes are present: two dark vertical bands running through the eyes, contrasted by a lighter forehead and cheeks. In the Uk this would appear Black and white.
  • Prop: The badger is holding a thick, textured stick or branch vertically against its chest.

4. Technical Considerations for Printing

  • Overhangs: The chin and the undersides of the arms are the primary areas requiring supports.
  • Base: Because the character is seated and has a wide belly, it has a naturally low centre of gravity, making it an excellent candidate for a standalone figurine.
