Description

Hello fellow ant enthusiasts, the attached design is a queen ant test tube holder I created to allow the test tube to be stored during the early phase of colony creation.

The design is for a test tube approximately 100mm in length and a diameter of 20mm which is fairly sizeable. However happy for you to edit the sizing to fit whatever test tube size you have.

The window prints out empty (refer to last image), I cut a piece of acrylic which was red transparent (bought from my local Jaycar) and glued it into place. I tried to use transparent red filament but it was not clear enough to see the queen ant. The window measures 40mm in length x 20mm in height. The window depth is 4mm which is the standard thickness for acrylic sheets.

The lid can be sticky sometimes so run it carefully for a bit before closing it all the way.

Please let me know how it goes, I had a queen ant in there initially but she had not yet mated so it has not be properly tested. Recommendations by ant Facebook groups in Australia have recommended fairly strong/dark acrylic so please do your research before putting your queen in there.
