Bird Feeder

For the past five years, there has been a flock of Australian King Parrots visiting my yard every summer, when they migrate up from the east coast. Each year, there is more and more of them, and they all continue to trust me and allow me to get up close, with a select few flying straight onto my hands to eat the seeds i pick from the japanese maple in my back yard, as well as some sunflower seeds. in order to give all of them an opportunity to eat at least some seeds, I decided to model a bird feeder to hang from a small tree in the yard. the bird feeder has been a great success with the avian community in my town, with many visitors daily, ranging from sulfur crested cockatoos to crimson rosellas, and the occasional visit from a small group of diamond firetail finches. These birds provide an incredible level of happiness to my life, and it fills me with joy to see them enjoying one of my own creations.

 

(I am careful to only put seed out at irregular intervals of days, and in regulated amounts, so as to prevent them from forming reliance on me.) 

 

I have provided two profiles, one with seperate material for the support interface, and one with the base PLA.

Additional Hardware:

I used an M8 (8mm diameter) threaded rod to hold everything together with same size hex nuts and washers. on the top, I used an eyenut, attatched to a chain with a carribiner. All of these can be easily obtained from any hardware stores.

 

Assembly Notes:
To attatch the roof trims, I used superglue, but any other adhesive would work, just be sure to use a weather resistant glue.

To make your model more weather proof, use a clear coat adhesive for plastic. I used this one, which can be obtained at most hardware stores, similar to all of the other additional parts:
