Description
Looking for a clean 10" rack mount for Unifi Express 7 that is ready to go right after printing without any extra hardware and fits into 1U slot? After not finding a model that exactly fits my needs and wants I decided to create one myself. If you have any ideas for improvement or variants you'd like to see just leave a comment! I'll probably create similar mounts for 0.5U Flex Mini 2.5G and UCG-MAX once I find the time.
I printed mine ouf of PETG for better temperature and creep resistance and I suggest you also choose a filament that fits this purpose. However, it probably also works in PLA especially when used with the locking band and if the rack has some ventilation.
Just take it out of the printer and slide in the device from the back, simple as that! The mount will flex a bit and then lock around the device. For extra security, you can also print the locking band on the second plate and slide it on after inserting the device. If you look at the side picture of the mount you can see how I have mine installed.
While the Express 7 will stay in place just with the clamping force of the mount, I also added a separate locking band/loop that can be slid over the backside of the mount. This makes sure that even under prolonged heat and load the clamping arms cannot come apart and let go of the device. The locking band has 0.5mm of space on each side by default and does not fit super tightly, if you want tighter fit just scale it down by a bit. The band is thin but in case your rack is packed full of exactly 1U height equipment on top and below of this UX7 mount it is possible that the band doesnt fit. However, you should have this on the top of the rack anyways so it shouldnt become a real problem. I will adjust the model for this if needed. There are also 3x25mm holes in the back if someone wants to design and print something that needs to be screwed in.
