Got into the BC-250 hype. It's real, and it's been really fun. However, i didn't want to do any drastic mods to the heatsink to make it work, tearing into the heat sink just felt wrong and not to mention dangerous. As such, inspired by some of the fan shrouds floating around on the internet, i decided to make one that works with a flexATX power supply I had laying around. Also needed a good fan with great static pressure. I'm familiar with Arctic cooling fans and decided on this overkill fan - the crazy Artic S12048-8K, which goes up to 8k RPM (too loud), but has incredible static pressure and keeps the BC250 running cool. Only issue is that it's loud! I run it at 30% @ 60 degrees (setting in BIOS), and it never goes beyond 50% normally. The system has been running at 50-55 at idle and 70 running furmark (look at screenshots). So far, it's been fun.
I also added a handle and stuck on some furniture non-skid pads on the bottom. The entire build is held together with 2 M3 screws - I had made it with another connector on the front but decided against it when the screws hit the heatsink. So far, it's holding up OK, but I plan to make another mod at some point to attach it better together.
Lastly, if you are hotwiring the PSU, it works, but i suggest getting one of these nifty PSU power switches, it's cheap and much safer IMHO. The build also allows all the cables and the power switch to be stuffed into a cavity on the side of the PSU housing. You also need some M3 screw to attach the PSU to the shell.
hope this build works for you as well as it has for me. If you have feedback, I'm all ears. I had a lot of fun making this. Give me a boost if you find it useful! Thanks
Boost Meoh, one important thing i left out - the fan almost hurt my fingers ,and really shouldn't be left bare. I found this fan mesh cover which i printed in PLA in white, which worked really well without seeming to impact airflow - highly recommended - Computer Filter Fan Mesh 60 70 80 120 140 - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld
