Print-in-Place Ball Fidget Spinner (Kids)

📌 IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE PRINTING

This model has very small contact points where the balls touch the build plate. Adhesion is critical.

⚠️ I strongly recommend washing your smooth or textured build plate with Dawn dish soap and warm water before printing.
This removes skin oils that rubbing alcohol alone often leaves behind and greatly improves first-layer adhesion.

After washing:

• Dry with a clean paper towel
• Avoid touching the print surface with your fingers
• Watch the first few layers to confirm the small ball areas stay down

Description

This is a print-in-place fidget spinner designed for little hands.
It’s a great “busy hands” toy for overactive kids — it’s helped with focus, listening, and sitting still in our house.

The entire model prints as one single piece with no hardware required.

Design Notes

• 14 mm center hole — sized comfortably for small fingers
• Fully print-in-place (no assembly)
• Compact, lightweight, and durable
• Great for desks, classrooms, or car rides

⚠️ Supports – DO NOT ENABLE

Do NOT use supports.

This model is intentionally designed so the balls and internal clearances print correctly without supports.
Enabling supports will:

• Fuse the balls in place
• Prevent the spinner from moving
• Ruin the print-in-place mechanism

If supports are enabled, the spinner will not work.

Print Settings (High-Level Summary)

This profile focuses on first-layer adhesion and controlled squish so the small ball contact points stick properly instead of riding the nozzle.

Key ideas:

• Extra first-layer squish via line width
• Slower first layer
• Slightly increased first-layer cooling
• Correct plate temperatures for PLA
• No Z-offset changes required
