Filament Cutter – Clean, Simple, and Fully Press-Fit
This compact filament cutter is a practical, workshop-ready tool designed for clean and reliable filament cuts. It will cut any filament type, making it a perfect everyday accessory for 3D printing setups, workbenches, and print prep stations.
The entire assembly is press-fit, keeping the design simple, durable, and easy to build.
What You’ll Need
The only additional parts required are:
- One standard utility blade
- One spring from a ballpoint pen
No screws, no hardware kits, and no complicated assembly.
Design refined to work with PLA.
Assembly Notes
- The press-fit plunger is intentionally very snug so it will not fall out during use.
- You may need to press it firmly against a hard surface to seat it fully.
- Depending on the size and strength of the spring used, the plunger may need to be pushed in slightly further to ensure the spring can compress the blade effectively.
- Everything is designed to stay in place via press-fit alone, but CA glue can be added if a permanent installation is desired.
- Double sided tape the housing to fit it to the AMS HT like I have for super easy access.
