Grim the Valentine Dumbo Octopus

My oldest really wanted a sea creature (we are VERY into swimming right now), so we got to work on a little guy who could be printed pretty small - meet Grim the Valentine Dumbo!

 

This is a pretty simple design, but I have added several options into the 3MF so they can be made as colorful as you'd like. There's a full color option, of course, but there is also a single color version where you are able to print the eyes, "ears", and blush separately. And, the one I'm most excited about, a version where you can print the tentacles first and then add them while the body is being printed, so you can still get multi-colored tentacles even without a color printer!

 

To do so, print 8 tentacles face down first (everything is already oriented correctly on the 3MF, and this is a great time for holographic plates if you have them!), and then when you print the body, add a pause at layer 37 (this should also be built in on the 3MF; you can delete the pause when you print the other parts). Hook the tentacles around the posts on the bottom of the body, and then continue your print. I've tested it several times and it worked great even without the tentacles taped or glued down, though of course if you want to use a little painter's tape to keep them still you can. Just make sure you are placing them oriented correctly - the rings on the tentacles will face very slightly upward when correctly positioned.
