Drill & Step up drill bit
long nib pen
Insert two of the 6mm wooden dowels into the bottom segment of the handle parts.
Insert the pole into the bottom segment of the handle. This is a very tight fit
Note: This may require using a mallet. Be careful to not break the handle bottom.
One at a time, put on the handle pieces. This will likely require using a mallet.
Once all of the pieces are on the pole, put in the 6mm wooden dowels until no more fit, then cut off any sticking out the top.
Tip: For a more secure end product, coat the 6mm wooden dowels with 2 part epoxy or thick CA glue before putting them in the handle
Slather the entire handle with 2 part epoxy so that the sleeve binds with all sections of the handle once installed, then slide all pieces of the sleeve on to the handle.
Again, this will be a very tight fit.
Glue the eye segments together like this:
Starting at the tip of the blade, insert the small circular dowels into the holes and piece the blade together. There are 4 layers of the blade lasagna, and each layer should have a very liberal amount of CA glue holding it in place.
Once you have put all 4 layers together, there will be a gap along the bottom. fill this gap with the long thin blade pieces remaining. Glue these in as well.
On both sides of the head, insert 4x M5 Heat Set Inserts into the flat side of it using a soldering iron.
On the side of the head that does NOT have 10mm wide recesses for screw heads on the outer holes, insert 8x M5 Heat Set Inserts using a soldering iron
Using 8x M5x40 screws, attach the left side, right side, rear wings, and blade together.
Put the head on the pole temporarily and use a 3mm drill bit to drill a hole through the pole using the top-most hole in the head. This hole should go all the way through the pole.
Remove the pole and use a 6mm drill bit to enlarge the hole you just drilled.
Put the head back on the pole and secure it with 2x M5x25 Grub Screws through the top most holes in the head. This will hold it steady.
Repeat the process of drilling through the pole and enlarging the holes for each of the other three holes on the head.
Put the head on the pole, and then attach it using the 8x M5x25 grub screws
Tip: Don't use glue at this step so you can take this beast apart for transportation and/or storage. The eyes should friction fit in very well.
